Anchored by the success of rising star and February R&B/Hip-Hop Rookie of the Month honoree, Pooh Shiesty, Gucci’s label who once housed the likes of Waka Flocka and OJ The Juiceman is now ripe with youthful, spirited energy. The two-year layover between albums has allowed Gucci to polish his resume as an executive with his label 1017 Records. Inspired by the birth of his son, Gucci decided to have his dripped-out baby boy serve as the cover art for his upcoming album. Ice Davis is the first child between Gucci and his wife, Keyshia Ka’oir. Just because he’s been quiet, doesn’t mean he hasn’t been working of course. We haven’t heard a new project from Gucci Mane since last summer when he released So Icy Summer, which is a very long hiatus by his standards. Today, Gucci took a moment to unveil the stacked tracklist, which features seventeen tracks and an intriguing blend of older and newer artists. In November, he released his first-ever greatest hits collection, Trap God Classics: I Am My Only Competition, featuring 28 of his biggest tracks. Ice Daddy follows Gucci’s 2019 albums, Woptober II and Delusions of Grandeur, which included appearances from Justin Bieber, Lil Uzi Vert, Meek Mill, and Rick Ross. On April 30, 2021, the same day the album was available for pre-order, Gucci Mane released the album’s lead single, “Shit Crazy,” featuring BIG30. At the time of the album’s release, Ice was about six months old. Ice Daddy is Gucci Mane’s fifteenth studio album, named after Ice Davis, his son with his wife, model Keyshia Ka’oir. Gucci’s latest endeavor will be dropping on the eve of Father’s Day Weekend, which serves as a befitting occasion for Guwop and his newborn son Ice.
